Bromsgrove Rovers registered their first win of the season against Corby Town last night (Tuesday).
Paul Szewczyk bagged both goals in the second half and also missed a penalty for his hat-trick with the last kick of the game.
Rovers were made to work for the points and the relief among the home faithfull was evident at the final whistle.
Joe Jackson's men started the brighter, but went off the boil as the first half fizzled out.
And the action was not much better after the break, save for Matt Lowe suberbly tipping Zac Nedimovic's volley over the bar.
But once Szewczyk flicked home Marcus Jackson's left wing free kick on 65 minutes, Rovers seemed to wake up.
Szewczyk swept them 2-0 up five minutes later after Jackson had played an excellent ball across the six yard box.
A home victory now looked inevitable but Rovers soon lost their way and were pegged back six minutes later.
Corby's Danny Marlow was fouled in the box following a melee and Michael Sneddon calmly sent Lowe the wrong way with his spot kick.
Securing the three points then became a mad scramble as the hosts hung on to their lead.
Lowe made another excellent save on 81 minutes, tipping Sneddon's shot over to keep the lead intact.
His opposite number Richard Lavin was booked deep into stoppage time for sending substitute Arthur Appleton sprawling in the box, unfortunately Szewczyk's penalty was held by Lavin.
