BGBL Premier Division clubs, take note: The Mighty Tigers are awake!

Having beaten leaders Team Bath on Saturday and with City's woeful result against Rugby still fresh in the mind the odds were against an away win but Tim Harris' rejuvenated team proved the bookies wrong to record a superb 4-1 victory away at the Victoria Ground against old foes Bromsgrove Rovers.

In a first half that saw the home team attack at will down the slope, City had to pick up scraps as Jermaine Clarke wasted two good chances whilst Scott Griffin was as guilty when he blazed wide with an angled drive from twelve yards. However debutant Sam Ellis did well to ruffle home keeper Karl Lewis as they both jumped for Griffin's looping cross and Jason Welsh was on hand to turn the loose ball into the net. Although, just before the break Rovers pulled level when Clarke made amends for his earlier misses when he rose unmarked to head a short corner past Kevin Sawyer from eight yards.

The second half was an altogether different affair though as City, having had to replace Griffin with the fit again Jack Pitcher during the break took the game to their hosts and scored when Ellis timed his run into the box to glance a header past Lewis from Jamie Price's sumptuous cross. Minutes later Alex Sykes was clumsily bundled over in the box and with shouts for a penalty ignored by the referee Pitcher claimed the loose ball only to also be dumped to the ground leaving the man in black no choice but to point to the spot. Sykes converted the penalty kick for his fourth goal of the season. Pitcher then got in on the act with his first of the campaign when he seized on a poor backpass before elegantly lobbing Lewis with a goal which wouldn't have looked out of place in PES5!

The three points moves City up to eighth place and they will look to build on that with a win against Brackley at the New Lawn on Saturday (k/o 3pm).
