A diminutive winger, who was 5 foot 4 inches tall.

He was an England Schoolboy international, playing once in 1948. He joined Wolverhampton Wanderers straight from school at the start of the Stan Cullis era. He played for the reserve side from the age of 16, and capturing three central league titles (reserve team league championships), before making his first team debut in 1961.

He played 206 times for Wolves from 1951-1962, winning the First Division Championship in 1958 & 1959, and he was a F.A. Cup winner in 1960.

He played twice for England against Brazil and Peru in 1959 on a South America tour.

He was transferred to Leyton Orient in 1962, before moving into non-league football with Worcester City in 1964.

He joined Rovers in at the start of the 1967-68 season. He played his final game for Rovers against Halesowen Town in November 1968.

He played for Darlaston from 1971, until retiring in 1974.
