A Bromsgrovian, who was educated at Watt Close School. He started his career with Alvechurch in the 1966/67 season.

In January 1967 he was chosen to play for England Youth against Scotland, he followed this up with a game against Ireland in February. He then signed for Birmingham City.

Gil Merrick brought him to the Rovers in July 1968, but after one season at the Victoria Ground he returned to Alvechurch.

Spells at Warley and Worcester City followed before he returned to the Rovers for the 1971-72 campaign. He was then a fixture on the left side of midfield for the next 8 seasons.
