A right back, who made his debut against Darlaston in the Birmingham Combination in September 1908. He had previously played for Worcester City and Stirchley United.

He was a regular in the back line from 1908-10. He was also the regular penalty taker.

He played in the first ever game at the Victoria ground, against Willenhall Swifts in the Birmingham Combination on 4 September 1909, and later that same season in the the final of the Birmingham Junior Charity Shield, played at Austin Motors Ground, Northfield on 18 April 1910. Rovers won 2-0.

Outside of football he was employed by the Birmingham Tramway department. Their works team was admitted to the Birmingham Combination for the 1910/11 season. He understandably decided to move to play for them.
