Shaun was a defender, although in his 19 year career with Rovers played in a variety of other positions. He is, by quite some margin, the all-time record holder for the most appearances for the Rovers.
At the age of 17 he was approached to come for a trial by Joe Wainwright, and then played for a season or so in the reserves side under Winston Foster. He made his first team debut against Alvechurch, in the Border Counties League on 14 October 1975 and was then a fixture in the side. He played in Rovers run to the quarter-finals of the F.A. Trophy, when they lost 2-1 to a late goal from Enfield.
He briefly left the Rovers at the start of the 1983-84 season playing for Stourbridge and Alvechurch before returning to the Rovers the following season.
In his second spell at the Rovers he was a key member of the side that won the Southern League Cup and gained promotion from the Midland Division in 1985-86. He also won the Worcestershire Senior Cup in 1986-87 and played against Newport County in the first round of the F.A. Cup. With Bobby Hopes departure, he decided to again leave the club and played for Worcester City in the 1988-89 campaign.
He returned for his third spell at the start of the 1989-90 season. He was a key member of the side which gained promotion to the Conference in 1991-92 and the side which finished second in the Conference in their debut season. He also played against Bournemouth in the first round of the F.A. Cup, famously netting a penalty after 10 minutes to put Rovers ahead and send the travelling Rovers fans wild.
He eventually played his final game for the Rovers against Runcorn in the Conference on April 26 1994, after which he moved to Redditch United.
