SPORTING ADD TO SAINTS NEW SEASON WOES by David Hucker

Saints were left reeling by Bromsgrove Sporting's second-half onslaught as they went down 4-0 at Banbury Road.

With Andy Wilson-King sent off for a two-footed tackle in the second half, Sporting put ten-man Saints to the sward with a crushing win that left Lee Knibbs' team still looking for their first goal and first point of the new season.

Saints made a lively start, looking much sharper than in their opening match at Nuneaton Griff on Saturday, with Simeon Smith having the first chance in the 12th minute, but keeper Jake Bedford saved with his legs.

Sporting could have gone ahead from a free-kick, but Andrew Skerratt saved at the second attempt. However, he was powerless to stop Will Tibbetts' 28th minute shot from 30 yards that flew into the top corner.

Smith had another chance for Saints before Skerratt fell on his shoulder and was taken off to be replaced by Keiran Conway in the 32nd.

Hopes of a second half comeback were effectively dashed on 55 minutes when defender Andy Wilson-King was shown red and Sporting quickly doubled their lead through Jacob Snape.

Marc Passey was booked for a rash challenge on the edge of the box and the free kick flew into the top far corner to put Sporting further ahead.

George Curry hit the outside of the post with a low curling shot, but the visitors were well in command now and put the final nail in the Saints' coffin with a fourth when Stefan Ashman beat Brad Rees and his shot gave Conway no chance.
