Match Report
A crowd of just under one hundred braved a cold and windy evening at the Victoria Ground to see an entertaining friendly match between Bromsgrove Sporting and an RAF XI that the visitors won by the odd goal.

Despite the recent battering by the weather, the pitch was even and in good condition that allowed a fast-moving game with quality passing.

Sporting controlled the early stages keeping their opponents well pinned back in their own half and when Darius Darkin scored with 25 yard screamer from just outside the penalty area after 23 minutes it was no more than they deserved. However that prompted the RAF team into action and they got the equaliser just two minutes later when Ben Applegate evaded his marker and curled home a shot from 15 yards out.

From then on most of the match was played in the middle of the park with neither goalkeeper having that much to do.

Just as it was looking like a draw with over ninety minutes on the clock, the Bromsgrove defence was nowhere to be seen as home ‘keeper Jake Bedford had to race out of his area to get to a long ball up field out of the RAF defence. His clearance went back into the RAF half to central defender Mark Begg who spotting Bedford well off his line hit the ball from well over halfway down the pitch perfectly into the corner of the Bromsgrove net. Moments later the ref blew for full time giving the visitors victory.
They now play the Army and Navy in a triangular tournament whilst Sporting will be at home again this Saturday in a league match against Coventry Copsewood
