Match Report
After a couple of useful wins in their pre-season friendlies, Sporting came down to earth with a bump when they were convincingly beaten 6-2 by Redditch United at the Valley last Saturday.

The Reds went one up on five minutes when Ricardo Reid fired home after a deflection landed at his feet. Fifteen minutes later the referee took all the players off the pitch with lightning around causing a 20 minutes delay in the first half. This appeared to benefit the home side who went in at half-time two goals up.

Two more goals were added after the interval but Sporting finally found the net via Billy Russell on 69 minutes. The impressive Darius Darkin added another nine minutes later but Redditch got their fifth on 81 minutes and added their 6th just before the final whistle.

Although a disappointment for the Rouslers, it was a friendly and manager Adie Mander was experimenting with different line-ups and formations and Redditch do play 3 levels higher. However there were worries about the defence and these will need to be addressed before the season starts on 2nd August.

Sporting line-up: Jake Bedford, Chris Duggan (Brett Mander), Danny Ludlow, Ryan Mahon, Dan Parker, Craig Jones, Sean Williams (Danny Campbell), Darius Darkin, Mark Bellingham (Billy Russell), Josh McKenzie (Chrisi Conway), Rico Taylor.
