Match Report | Programme
What started as an even affair between two of the leagues form sides ended with a very one sided result on a sunny Easter Monday. With Sporting only 5 points behind top of the league Highgate it was imperative not to slip up against Pershore Town who had won their last 6 league games.

The first half was a stalemate with few chances for either side. Ex-Sporting striker Danny Lennon had a great chance on the half hour for Pershore but was snubbed by a reaction save from Sporting 'keeper Jake Bedford. Other chances fell to Sporting's Sean Brain and Will Tibbetts but were both saved easily in the Pershore goal by Andrew Yarnold and the sides went into the dressing rooms at half time at 0-0.

The second half could not have started more differently with a punt forward from Bedford resulting in a seemingly routine nod back to Yarnold. However, the Pershore 'keeper had other ideas and somehow conspired to let the ball run past him and into the open net behind him, sparking jubilant scenes behind the goal from the Sporting faithful.

By the hour mark it was 2-0 when Sean Brain laid the ball off to Will Tibbetts on the right wing who glided effortlessly past a Pershore defender before squaring to Aaron Williams who calmly slotted home from 8 yards.

Sporting were now dominating proceedings and ten minutes later a poor corner from Tibbetts was headed back to him who at the second attempt was able to provide a delightful ball for Lewis Clarke who rose up and headed powerfully unchallenged past a helpless Yarnold.

The rest of the match was a formality with Sporting largely keeping control. As Pershore stretched to get back in the game further chances fell to Brain and substitutes Chris Conway and Josef Jakab, but the scoreline remained the same and at the final whistle a healthy travelling contingent of Sporting fans cheered a comfortable victory.

With Highgate and Bolehall both winning the title race is still finely poised with Sporting trip to Bolehall in a couple of weeks likely to be pivotal.
