A tidy performance again from Sporting who again dominated the match and had the bulk of the possession against their opponents from the West Midlands Premier Division.
The only goal of the match came in the second minute when Luke Corbett rose above the home defence to head in Reece Hewitt's corner. Dudley's keeper initially looked to have made a save but then let the ball slip though his fingers.
The home side then had two golden opportunities to get level with a couple of fast-breaks up field that caught the Sporting defence by surprise but poor finishing and a bit of good fortune for the away keeper Brendan Bunn, preserved the scoreline.
Had the game been for real and not a friendly, Sporting might have had a couple of yellow cards for late tackles that left two home players needing lengthy treatment, having said that the challenges were more clumsy that malicious.
After half-time the game continued in the same vein with Sporting pressuring Dudley but good defending by the home defence caused each move to fail usually in the last 10 yards, worrying a few travelling fans about their ability to find the net.
Both sides made several substitutions with a number from the visitors playing out of position, not unusual for this type of match but it did look like a factor in Sporting's ability to increase their lead.
Dudley had a few reasonable chances themselves but poor finishing cost them the chance of any equaliser.
It now remains to be seen how much Sporting have learnt from these practice matches when the season starts for real this Saturday against Southam United at 3:00 p.m.
