How They Saw It | Match Report | Programme
Atherstone should have had a penalty inside the first minute. Lee Waters' cross to the near post was spilled by Josh Moreton and as Mark Latham rounded the home keeper he was tugged back by the home 'keeper. After Mark Latham had narrowly missed an Alan Miller cross the referee seemed to even things up when Phil Smith slipped as he picked up a routine back pass and spilled the ball. The Adders keeper seemed to make contact with the Bromsgrove forward as he was about to tap the ball into the unguarded net but no penalty was awarded. The Adders were now playing some slick football going forward with David Boal at the heart of most of the moves. They deservedly scored the games first goal in the 27th minute. Alan Miller outpaced his marker on the left wing and his waist high cross was met firmly on the volley by Liam Bailey at the far post. Kyle Turner should have equalised soon after but with the whole goal to aim at he hit his shot straight at Lee Waters on the line. Half Time: 0-1

After being outplayed for most of the the first half Bromsgrove started the second brightly. Phil Smith saved well from a Sam Ellis free kick in the 50th minute but in the 57th minute came the incident that changed the game. Mark Latham was brought down just inside the penalty area. Initially Liam Bailey looked as if he was to take the spot kick but after a long delay he handed the ball the Luke Tyler whose well hit shot flew inches wide. This seemed to inspire the home side and they sealed the match with three goals in the final fifteen minutes. In the 75th minute a right wing corner was headed in by Sean Brain. Ex-Adder Kyle Turner added a second four minutes later before Adders' keeper Phil Smith was sent off for what looked an innocuos shove a few minutes later. Lloyd Storey took over in goal but he had no chance with a Dale Edwards shot in the 85th minute.
