How They Saw It | Match Report | Programme
In blustery conditions which made tight control difficult the match was played in fairly high tempo, the first opportunity fell to the visitors who tested Ben Allsop from distance, then 5 minutes latter at the other end a free kick on the edge of the box was fired into Bromsgrove's defensive wall by Eddie Wilson.
Dan Wain kept the scores level with a timely clearance with 19 minutes played and was also on hand to tidy up another dangerous attack. The deadlock was broken in rather fortunate way for the Rouslers Jack Wilson scoring from 25 yards, his left foot cross into the danger area catching a gust of wind to lift the ball into Allsops top left hand corner for 1 nil to Bromsgrove. It got worse for the hosts just two minutes latter when No 11 Sean Brain received the ball on the edge of the box, with work to do he out run the home defenders to slot his low firm drive into the back of the net to double the advantage.
It was all the visitors action for the next 10 minutes Allsop saving from Walker and Brian shooting wide before Heather had their best chance of the half a Rami Tekle pile driver from outside the box hitting Chris Jay's upright, shortly following a cross from Jordan Burrows finding Wilson who was unable to test the keeper, the same fate occurring for Deqwon Ebanks who miss hit a great through ball from Wilson.
HT HSJ 0-2 BS
The game was effectively over just 4 minutes into the second half when a 3 man move left a simple tap in for Sam Wills to extend the Bromsgrove lead to 3 nil.
The hosts did almost reduce the gap but a great effort by Wilson rebounded off the cross bar and at he other end Harry Reece came to Saints rescue making a timely tackle, with the Saints back four keeping the speedy attackers at bay they could do nothing to prevent the forth goal, which was arguably the best of the encounter, a cracking screamer of a drive from 30 yards from Connor Collins on the run which a full stretched Allsop could only get a hand to it but unable to prevent its pathway to the net.
All the endeavor by the Rigby boys towards the whistle couldn't dent the visitors excellent record, the former Southern League team leaping to top of the league over the Coventry United.
