Match Report
Bromsgrove Sporting were up against a very strong Sporting Khalsa side, with the likes of Lee Chilton signing from Leamington, Ben Hasley from Stafford Rangers and Danny Ashton from Alvechurch all in the starting line-up but the away side started how they meant to go on.

After only three minutes they won their first corner with a flick on by Jack Edwards but no green shirt could connect in the Khalsa box. But what a move on eight minutes when a Robbie Bunn floated ball was headed on by Tony Clark and Sean Brain was on hand to steer the ball into the Khalsa net with the 'keeper colliding with Brain as he did so.
The player was grounded for a couple of minutes and needed attention before standing up to a generous applause.

The next 20 minutes was end-to-end with Edwards and Danny Morris standing firm in defence. A rare lucky slip let in Ben Hasley for a run on goal but Bromsgrove 'keeper Chris Jay was alert and cleared well.

A scramble broke out in the Bromsgrove area after thirty minutes but Robbie Bunn was there to clear the lines as Khalsa threatened to break through. With Sean Brain clearly struggling Chrisi Conway replaced him on 40 minutes. The half then ended with The Rouslers well on top and a disgruntled home management showed their disappointment.

The second half started with the same eleven players who ended the first, but after 55 mins four changes took place with Morris off for Ryan Spink, Amir Ali replacing Chris Lloyd, Aaron Roberts for Robbie Bunn and Dayle Kenny for Tony Clark. Conway who came on for Brain earlier continued where Brain left off, with a snap shot well-saved by the Khalsa keeper on 57 minutes; he hit the post on the 68th and had a volley cleared on the 70th.

In between Conway's efforts Kenny was brought down in the Khalsa box but the referee waived play on. Roberts was next to try his luck with a shot that went high and wide. It seemed all Bromsgrove at this point and the substitutes never disrupted the flow of the play.
A scuffle between K
halsa's Turner and Nathan Walker ended with the referee giving both players a lecture that ended with a shake of hands. The home side had their first shot on goal on 80 minutes with Jay holding on well, which told the story of the game.

The last twelve minutes was "backs to the wall" with Khalsa going for the equaliser, but the green shirts defended well.

Paul Smith has a real job on his hands to whittle the squad down and I would rather it be him than me.
