Match Report
An entertaining match at Leamington's New Windmill Ground saw The Brakes shade Sporting in the first half to give them the lead but an even second half ensured the scoreline remained the same.

Connor Taylor for the home side had the first shot on target on the fourth minute that Bromsgrove 'keeper Jon Brown punched away but the best early chance went to Sporting's Will Shorrock who hit the post from Tory Herbert's cross; Leamington failed to clear only for Josh Quaynor's follow-up attempt to go wide of the left hand post.

Herbert himself and Quaynor again had half-chances but by then The Brakes were beginning to take more control of the game and on 32 minutes Junior English dropped a neat cross from the right to the near post that Danny Morris glanced into his own net.

However, six minutes later the visitors were level. Danny Jackman threaded a beautiful pass forward into the path of Herbert whose shot was cleared off the line by Connor Gudger back to Herbert whose pass to Richard Gregory was gratefully tapped home by former Leamington striker.

It looked as if the scoreline would remain the same until the interval but a long range kick up field from Tony Breeden followed by a quick cross into the box from Kieran Dunbar saw the former Leicester Road striker Matt Stenson leap higher than his markers and power home from close range.

The expected change in the weather saw the second half begin in torrential rain but most of the play remained in the middle of the park and neither side really threatened the opposing net. Reece Francis in goal for Sporting had to make a couple of quick saves with 65 minutes on the clock whilst at the other end Gregory ought to have better with a free kick than put it over the bar 10 minutes later.

A tidy game for Sporting who were not disgraced by their opponents from two divisions higher and after the match manager Brendan Kelly (who missed the midweek game at Alvechurch owing to a family event) said "I thought the match was pretty even. We acquitted ourselves quite well this afternoon. It gave me a number of pointers and I was pleased how we controlled the game for much of the time".
