Match Report
A sunny Tuesday evening in the Black Country was the setting for a thrilling game of football at the business end of Bromsgrove's pre-season with 407 fans from both teams packed into "The Grove" expecting a quality night of football under the floodlights.

The hosts Halesowen took advantage of Sporting's lack of concentration early on, as Ivor Lawton slotted home to give Halesowen into the lead.

Sporting tried to battle back into game with a flurry of attacks with new Bromsgrove talent Will Shorrock nearly finding the net, but the ball however, found the stand behind.

Halesowen countered with striker and former Worcester City star Lee Hughes who thundered the ball past Reece Francis after a rather scrappy build-up to make it 2-0. Sporting looked just about down and out until Liam Armstrong floated the ball to Bromsgrove star man Richard Gregory, who put the ball away breathing new life into the Sporting boys and making the scoreline 2-1. Gregory almost sent the Sporting faithful into dream land soon soon after but his free header went wide of the goal.

A standard game of football would usually involve 22 men split into 2 teams but on this night the referee fancied himself as a player, having multiple touches that sent the already vocal fans into hysterics.

On the stroke of half time Halesowen displayed some excellent passing football that sent Bromsgrove defenders out of sight, leaving Daneile Bragoli to capitalise and put Halesowen in a somewhat comfortable lead. Half time came and the scoreline was in Halesowen's favour at 3-1.

Both teams came back onto the pitch after making a number of substitutes. Sporting taking advantage of all 5 available placing familiar players such as Aaron Roberts, Guy Clark, R'mar Murray and Jono Brown into the mix along with new young upstart Charlie Dowd.

Bromsgrove went into the second half attacking, seeing a lot of the ball and creating many chances. Richard Gregory was bought down in the box. After appeals from both the fans and the players, the referee waved them away and the game carried on.

Halesowen forward and former Wolves player Sylvan Ebanks-Blake almost sent Halesowen out of sight after a 1 on 1 with keeper Jono Brown but persistent pressure from Guy Clark forced the forward to send it wide. As the sun went down and the lights went dim, so did the game. Sporting's attacking progress came to nothing and Halesowen seemed to play for possession.

The referee eventually blew the final whistle and the game came to a close. Plenty to take away for Bren Kelly and the Sporting boys ahead of their home fixture on Saturday against Stourbridge.
