Not the best of days as Coleshill Town gained a deserved victory against a lacklustre Bromsgrove Sporting who not only lost but sustained three serious looking injuries.
The home side were on the front foot on the artificial surface at Pack Meadow right from the start with Sporting hardly making any incursions into opposition territory. However despite their early dominance and a succession of corners, the Sporting back four saw off any danger despite good efforts from Joe Smith and Joe Smith who headed against the bar following a corner from former Rousler Liam Molesworth on 26 minutes.
It was 37 minutes before the away side had their first shot when Paul Hathaway easily gathered Richard Gregory's low drive. Then on the 44th minute there was the first misfortune of the afternoon when Will Shorrock fell heavily and left the pitch with a suspected break to his collar bone and although it was only a minute before the interval, there was enough time for Coleshill's Jordan Nadat to rattle the Bromsgrove bar, force Jono Brown into a goal line clearance and scuff a shot that easier to put away.
Space was in short supply for Sporting who were constantly hassled by Coleshill preventing them from playing their usual free-flowing passing game. However on the 50th minute Gregory finally had time to place a shot but it went whistling over the bar. Not to be outdone at the other end, Nadat dispossessed Mike McGrath a few moments later but Brown was on hand to stop his 15-yard strike.
A couple of minutes after that, an out-of-sorts Jason Cowley left the field with a groin injury giving Adan George his debut but Coleshill were still dominant as shortly after, Nadat hit the post from a corner.
McGrath fired a 25-yard shot on the 68 minute that Hathaway had to tip over the bar but moments later he added to Sporting's injury list as he went off with a back injury.
The Colemen's pressure finally paid off a couple of minutes later when Molesworth got past substitute Aaron Roberts, crossed in to the box and after a brief scramble the ball found its way to Connor Doyle who tapped home from close range.
Four minutes later Doyle was on song again when he struck a sublime shot from 25 yards that went through the narrow gap between Brown and the post doubling his side's advantage.
The final goal of the afternoon came on 81 minutes when Nadat deservedly got himself on the score sheet with a well-taken drive from 20 yards out.
So an immensely forgettable game for Sporting in front of around 300 travelling supporters but in fairness to Coleshill, they played very well, got their game plan right and gave Sporting few opportunities to get into the match.
