Match Report
Bromsgrove Sporting succumbed to the first defeat of their pre-season campaign, as they lost 3-2 at Boldmere St Michaels.

In extremely oppressive weather conditions, the Rouslers were left shell-shocked at half time, as a woeful performance saw them go in 3-0 down - a slightly improved second half display saw Sporting notch up two goals, courtesy of Leon Broadhurst and Kieren Westwood, but it ultimately would not prove enough.

Boldmere began the game the stronger side and this continued throughout the whole 45; the opener came 21 minutes in, as really sloppy defending saw Boldmere's no.2 neatly play through their no.10, who coolly placed the ball past Matt Coton one-on-one.

The lead was doubled six minutes later, as the no.6 hit a cracking effort from 25 yards out into the top corner, with the third coming in the 39th minute, as Kyle Lincoln was unable to head the ball clear, allowing the no.10 to set up the no.9, who took the ball around Coton and slotted home.

It was almost four when Boldmere's no.5 hit the crossbar with a header via a corner on the stroke of half time - Sporting's standout moments in an abysmal half came from Shaquille McDonald, who had two chances either side of Boldmere's second goal, both of which were charged down by the home side's stopper.

Sporting's first consolation came 10 minutes into the second half, as substitute Charlie Dowd skilfully moved forward and found Broadhurst, who outmuscled his defender and hit home past the keeper.

The 71st minute saw Westwood whip a free kick into the box that Richard Gregory was unable to convert from close range; ten minutes later, Westwood got on the scoresheet, as a kick from Coton was glanced on by the head of Gregory towards him, which he followed with a firmly struck effort that went in off the post.

The final moments would see the home side hold out for a deserved win, as Sporting lacked any real sparkle on the evening.
