HARRIERS lost out by a single goal to Bromsgrove Sporting in a competitive pre-season friendly.

Joe Hull’s goal, four minutes from time, was enough to settle a game that was far from packed with chances.

Harriers were able to give 90 minutes to a number of senior players for the first time this summer, with the likes of Declan Weeks, Ryan Johnson and Cliff Moyo all played the full game.

John Pemberton introduced Tom Palmer and Harry Higginson into the starting eleven, the latter after Jimmy O’Connor was ruled out through injury.

In a quiet first half, Ed Williams went closest for Harriers with a free-kick that sailed narrowly wide, while Milan Butterfield also saw a firm volley well blocked.

Austin and Davidson had half sights of goal either side of the break, with Harriers in control for the most part of the tie without ever really forcing goalkeeper Jono Brown into a serious save.

Davidson and Chambers had shots comfortably held before Thompson-Brown, a former Harrier, fired over for Sporting with 11 minutes left to play.

The decisive goal came in the final moments, Palmer unable to get a hand to a looping header from Hull as diverted the ball into the corner.

Peniket, on as a sub, was through on the angle just after, but Brown was equal to his effort.
