There is a massive difference between the friendlies played and a competitive fixture and no answers can be sort from this game. Before maybe a draw would be taken AT kick off but it was a good baptism for the Waders seeking promotion this time.
The strong wind certainly affected the game with the ball holding up for Biggleswade in the 1st half. Liam Brooks got the Waders off to a great start after 7 with a crisp shot across the keeper. Although this shocked the home team and supporters, it enlivened Bromsgrove into action with their wide players doing well down both flanks. All were repelled until 45 when a cross found the head of Bromsgrove 10 Richard Gregory for him to guide the ball past Sam Donkin.
The second period was not an ideal spectacle with each side cancelling out the few chances being created. Not till the last few minutes when Joe White and Drew Richardson had great chances to take the points, Richardson hitting the bar with a header, did the contest come alive. But in the words of manager Lee Allinson, " It wasn't to be" So we go again tomorrow, Tuesday, against Royston having no doubt benefited from the experience at Bromsgrove. |
