Match Report
Bromsgrove Sporting finally kicked off their competitive campaign against Coventry side Young Warriors on Saturday. Unfortunately, Warriors outfought Sporting to claim a comprehensive 5 - 2 victory and register a first competitive defeat for Sporting.

The first half was fairly even until the 39th minute when Ndwa put Warriors a goal up with a volley as he reacted quickest to a shot coming back off the Sporting crossbar. Sporting looked a little out of sorts and were often slower to the ball but they did create opportunities during that first half and could have gone ahead but for a fine save by keeper Singh from a fierce shot hit by Shaun Maynard from around 12 yards out.

The game was effectively settled a minute after half-time as Mazwi was given time and space on the left of Sporting's defence to slot a cool finish past Mole. 2 - 0 became 3 as Ndwa scored his second. Sporting then scored their first ever competitive goal on 67 minutes but even then it was an own goal as Mudzi beat his own keeper with a back header from a Mole clearance.

It was soon 4 - 1 as a terrible back pass let in Ndlovu for another cool finish in a 1 on 1 with keeper Mole. Then on 89 minutes, Maynard broke through the Warriors defence to score at the second attempt to make it 4 - 2. There was still time for the score to become 5 - 2 as Warriors, Bako converted a penalty given for a clear trip in the penalty area.

A first outing for Sporting will give them some food for thought as they now know the standard expected in the league and they will look for a better performance in next week's Cup game against Stretton Eagles.
