Red Recruitment Cup |
Bromsgrove Sporting and Alvechurch played out an entertaining 3-3 draw at the Victoria Ground on Boxing Day.
Will Shorrock headed Sporting into the lead 11 minutes in, before Tyrell Hamilton notched up the first of his brace five minutes later.
A Leon Broadhurst header and a Jason Cowley penalty gave Sporting a 3-1 lead, but two goals in two minutes, midway through the second half, from Jamie Willetts and Hamilton, ensured the honours would be shared in this Red Recruitment Cup encounter.
The opener came as some good work out wide from Lee Chilton allowed him to beat his man - a lovely cross allowed Shorrock to head home from close range.
Proceedings were levelled soon after, as a shot from distance that hit the post was rebounded into the path of Hamilton, who was able to slot home into an empty net.
Former Rousler Joe Hull almost headed the visitors into the lead soon after, but his effort was wide of the mark; the 29th minute saw a header converted though, as a cracking free kick from Josh Quaynor was wilfully knocked in by Broadhurst.
The lead was almost doubled a minute before half time, as Quaynor pounced on a defensive mistake and found Cowley, who shot wide in a one-on-one situation.
However, Cowley would score Sporting's third in the 56th minute, from the spot; Shorrock was fouled in the area and the penalty was slotted neatly into the bottom corner.
In the 67th minute, Alvechurch's James Spray intercepted a Josh Ezewele backpass - he only had Sporting stopper Daniel Platt to beat but Bromsgrove's number one managed to divert it wide for a corner.
This corner saw the visitors pull one back, as substitute Dylan Barkers was able to head it to Willetts, who was able to knock the ball into the goal.
A minute later, Alvechurch were level, as Hamilton scored a penalty after being fouled by substitute Luke Ward - Platt made contact to Hamilton's spotkick but it managed to find its way in.
Kieran Cook had a chance to win it for the away side with eight minutes remaining, but his free kick from a promising position could only find the wall.
