Match Report | Programme
Sporting secured three more home points with a win over a very good Littleton side who kicked off as League leaders, that was more comfortable than the scoreline suggests.

The game began slowly the only incident of note in the first ten minutes being a booking for Nick Harris for coming onto the pitch without permission after going off for treatment. Littleton had the better if the first quarter and Biddle made excellent saves to deny Gould and Baird. Sporting's best chance early on fell to Neil Cooksey who shot over from a couple of yards out after being set up by Joe Brookes.

As the Rouslers settled they began to stretch the visitors defence and after half an hour the excellent Ryan Molesworth almost scored a spectacular solo goal running from deep past three defenders and taking the ball round the goalkeeper only to be defeated by the tightness of the angle ,the ball hitting the outside of the post.

After 33 minutes Sporting took the lead with another fine goal from Jon Rogers who, receiving the ball with his back to goal, turned quickly to lose his marker and scored with a dipping shot from just inside the penalty area, Littleton hit back and Allard, a thorn in Sporting's side in the away match in August hitting the post with a 20 yard drive before beating Bright to send in a low centre which Cooksey turned into his own net, inexplicably as he was under no pressure. A half time score of 1-1 fairly reflected the play.

The second half was less exciting. Sporting regained the lead on 58 minutes when Nick Harris' shot deflected off a defender, wrong footing the goalkeeper after which Sporting played out time very comfortably. Biddle who had been busy, and excellent, before half time had little to do as Littleton's neat approach play produced few worthwhile chances such was the excellence of Sporting's defence. Jenvey might have added to the score on 90 minutes but shot over after being set up by Jon Rogers.

These were three excellent points against one of the Division's top sides and it is difficult to see Sporting dropping many points at home this season. This makes it all the more frustrating that they can't play like this away from home. The next away game is at Droitwich. Surely we can pick up three points there?
