Club Notes
The Club began life in the 1970s as Beacon Rangers before changing its name to Beacon Park. In June 2006 a decision was made by the Committee to change the clubs name to Lichfield City FC in order to raise its profile in the local community.
The effects of this name change have been massive, as within 6 years the Club has increased the number of sides from 8 to 25! We have teams from under 6 all the way through to open age (including a Ladies team playing in the Staffs County Womens League) and currently have more than 380 playing members. We also achieved our Charter Standard award within a year and in 2009 achieved the status of Charter Standard Community Club which is the pinnacle award for Charter Standard Clubs. In 2010 Lichfield City FC was recognised by Staffordshire FA as the best Community Club in Staffordshire.
In 2008 we moved our open age team from the Burton & District League into the Midland Football Combination so that we could provide our junior members with an exit route into a better standard of football. That season we finished 5th but were fortunate enough to gain promotion to the second division after a league restructure. In 2009 / 2010 we finished 3rd but missed out on back to back promotions as only the top 2 went up. For the 2010 / 2011 season we moved our reserve team into the Midland Football Combination to benefit from the improved professionalism, standard and playing facilities that the league provide. That season our first team finished 4th in the 2nd division and again gained promotion due to a league restructure. Season 2011/2012 was our best yet with the reserves finishing runners up in the reserve division 2 and our first team a creditable 4th in the first division. After successfully gaining planning permission for floodlights, we had the platform in place for premier division football and following the Mid Comb AGM, both our teams were promoted to their respective premier leagues for season 2012/2013.
