Club Notes
From the website:

Paul Ryder and Steve Baker founded Smithswood Firs in 2008.

The team started their first season in Division 7 of the Birmingham & District AFA. After a successful first season Smithswood Firs were crowned convincing champions of their division.

Due to their great first season the AFA promoted the club two divisions so the team started their second season in Division 5 which they again topped to achieve another two division promotion. Division 3 proved much tougher but with some great teamwork and additions to the squad they held their own and finished 3rd in the division clinching promotion to Division 2.

Another promotion followed and Smithswood Firs found themselves in Division 1 for the 2012-13 Season. A fantastic season saw them clinch the Division 1 title where their fellow challengers openly admitted they had been deserved winners and with it promotion to the Premier League under manager Paul Ryder had been achieved.

After a solid 5th place in their first season in the Premier Division, Smithswood decided to make the move to the highly regarded St Mary's Hospice Midland Football Combination. During the months where all the paperwork was being completed, the Midland Combination merged with the Midland Football Alliance. This had been the result of nearly two years of planning between the leagues and only enhanced their reputation as the newly formed Midland Football League was born. Smithswood were placed into the newly formed Division 3 for the 2014/15 season and are ready for the challenge these new opponents will bring.
